Today I show you some old stones *lol*. In Britain I always have the feeling that history is everywhere and just waits to be explored. My husband and I love to stroll through those old walls and it's great that not everything is behind a fence. You may walk up a steep stair, or explore a dark hole - it's not like here, where safety kills every fun. It's like breathing in history. This old castle is to be found in Wales and its called Raglan Castle.
Better not ask, what have been thrown into this moat over the years.

This gorgeous view over the Welsh Border was hard earned by walking up a steep stair. Love it!
Fascinating and creepy at the same time are those strange figures at the walls of churches and castles.
We went on to Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire. An abbey that was founded on 1131 and abandoned in 1536. At the end of the 18th century it was rediscovered and now it is Grade I listed.
It was a very strange atmosphere in this ruin. A sadness came over me, like I have never felt it before in such an old place. I don't know what it was, because in other ruins we visited before, I could usually imagine how life must have been, but here ... nothing but sadness ... strange.
But that meadow of daisies that grow in the middle of the Abbey was very enchanting.
The church of Abbey Dore (I show you the garden Abbey Dore Court another time). British Cemeteries somehow attract us as well. I love to read inscriptions at gravestones - I try to imagine what story lies behind them.
A bit creepy, isn't it? We always wondered if there are still mortal remains in those stone coffins.
But when we had the chance to have a closer look, we honestly didn't dare to do so. Well, yes, we are admitted cowards.
On those big flagstones we could read some inscriptions as well, so we guessed that there were people buried too. Smile, of course I had to use this story in my next novel. England is a good source of inspirations for me.
Another chocolate box house in which I would move in immediately, without having seen the inside. My hubby is slightly worried, because he loves modern and light houses while I prefer quirky and cozy.
Did you recover from the old walls? Well, then I just show you the next one...
I can't remember where we found this church, but again it was very old, beautiful and quirky.
The entrance was quite special and I asked myself how many elderly ladies have kissed the floor unexpected. I mean, not that elderly boys are more adept, but if they had to wear our skirts and shoes ... I better stop bringing that thought to an end.
And again somebody was buried among the living. Somehow a lovely thought... I mean, to be surrounded by the living. But when my days come to an end I would prefer to be buried beneath a big tree than in a church. I have no problems with religion but I prefer nature. God, I really should bring this post to an end... :o)
With those flowers I hope to bring back happy feelings. Have all a joyful weekend.
En liebe Gruess / Take care
P.S.: I just found out that this was my 444 post... well, with that strange number, it is no wonder that I wrote a strange post :o)
