Today I take you back to my holidays in Herefordshire... to the Abbey Dore Gardens in the Golden Valley.
Well, at first I was a bit disappointed, because the garden looked like the entrance room: a bit untidy. However, like this rabbit it needed only a bit of care and the beauty was still there. It's funny that on the photos you probably won't recognize what I mean. But have a look at your self and walk into Abbey Dore Garden:
I loved the pieces of art in stone or wood.
Here another kind of log garden. Wait a moment, I zoom it:
Looks great with the sempervivum, doesn't it?
Well, I guess, I will dream for the rest of my life of my own walled garden.
Astrantia, I don't know why, but it's only since this year, that I got to know this plant. It's very cute.
A wild mixture, but somehow it fits.
And that's a sight, that makes me sad: If peonies are broken, why not take them into a vase? Well, it was quite decorative for the photo, but please, give them back their grandeur.
A filled geranium. Yes, I put it on my wish list. I fear, that my garden will never be big enough for all the plants on my wish list :o).
Ha, but this one I've got in my garden. Well, not as big as this one, but that's because of the weather, what else? It's always the weather's fault, that's for sure.
Urgh... I've forgotten this photo when I ordered the sambucus nigra for my garden. You must know, that the others I saw before, were much smaller and I was sure it would fit into my garden. Oh well... mine is still very very small and it will be a long, long time until it is so big (at least I hope so).
I tried to get some white Centranthus by seed, but it didn't work, mine were again pink. However, in this garden I saw for the first time a wild kingfisher. What a beautiful bird.
Would I recommend you a visit at Abbey Dore Gardens? Well, that isn't an easy question. If you haven't got high expectations in garden design or special plants and if you haven't just visited Hampton Court (like we had) then yes. And after the visit you can make lovely walks in the area. The garden looked to me a bit unattended but still somehow romantic. I would have loved to ask, where the gardening tools were and if they would mind me working a bit in the garden. Not because I would believe I could do it better... no, by far not... but because the garden felt somehow like home and not like a garden open for public... if you know what I mean.
No, not my Noah, that was one of the Bridges's Inn cats.
Habt ein gemütliches Wochenende... it's time to have a cup of tea (ja, Rita, es darf auch Kaffee sein *kicher*).
And now, I try to get my head back from England... my heart it will keep forever *LoL*. Have all a lovely weekend. It's time for a cup of tea.
En liebe Gruess / Best wishes
