Sorry for my long absence, but I was quite busy lately (I know, I'm repeating myself). But now I'm back and would love to take you with me to the crooked houses of Lavenham. And no, I didn't have a Whisky too much, before shooting the photos... the houses really look like that.
This apricot-colored house is the oldest and best known (because it is so crooked) in the town, as we were told. You can't see it, because of the car that is parking in front of it, but it's a tearoom in it. Let's have a closer look.
Tripadvisor findet Ihr noch ein paar Fotos von dem Tearoom... und jaaaaa, natürlich hatten wir einen Cream Tea... mittags um zwölf Uhr (jeder Engländer schüttelt jetzt wohl gerade den Kopf).
I was stunned that my hubby really wanted to go inside this sweet little house to have a tea. And so we did. I didn't dare to make some photos, but in Tripadvisor you'll find some. It felt like in a sweet little dollhouse. I just loved it and couldn't resist to buy a little something out of the shop. And yesssss, of course we had a cream tea... at noon (!). I know, English readers are shaking their heads now, in lack of understanding such tourist behaviour. Sorry about that :o).
Refreshed we had a walk through the town.
In such shops I could stay forever looking out for treasures.
Ahhhh ... sorry, I have to sniff for a moment... gorgeous!
This house is a Museum and of course we had to go inside, curious as we are.
The house had a lovely courtyard with a gate leading to a secret garden.
What an enchanted garden, just the way Mrs Gwundergarten loves it.
Back in the courtyard a lovely knot garden. May please the box tree moth and fungal disease stay away from it forever.
Back in the house: Can you see the door? It's in the middle. I love such secret rooms.
If you have a closer look to the floor, you can see, how crooked the house really is.
I would have loved to have a look behind some other doors. But not every secret has to be discovered.
Das war's leider auch schon wieder von Lavenham ... aber von Essex und Suffolk habe ich schon noch ein paar Geschichten mehr zu erzählen, wenn Ihr mögt.
That's it from Lavenham... but from Essex and Suffolk I've got some more stories to tell. Hope you join me again.
