Ja, es ist zum Schreien, gell, kleine Schnee-Eule. Aber es lässt sich nicht ändern, unsere Ferien in Herefordshire sind leider schon wieder Geschichte. Schön war's in dem Land …
Yes, snowy owl, you're right, it's worth a cry. Our holidays in Herefordshire are over. It was fantastic in the land, where ...
… trees get sooooooo big and old.
Where ponies may run free over the mountains.
Where the countryside is of outstanding natural beauty.
Where you have to watch out not to get lost.
Where cemeteries are a little bit spooky. But I'm always wondering what stories those grave stones could tell.
Again we were able to experience such a lot of things and met so many nice souls, just like...
… Stan, the Shire Horse. I already miss this gentle giant, who was so much bigger than me.
We found lovely hiking paths … well, but even those lead sometimes quite steep uphill.
We made a canoe trip on the river Wye.
Stunned about old hedges.
Visited Powis Castle and its gorgeous garden.
Enjoyed breakfast al fresco on our terrace whenever the weather allowed it.
I daily walked over the farm ground to say hello to those funny fellows. By the way, they are pets and not meant to end up as bacon ;o).
We strolled through Puzzlewood. What an amazing place!
Visited the ocher mine, what made me shiver a little bit while thinking on the fellows, who had to work here.
We drove on narrow streets, not sure to survive this.
Walked over holy and mystic grounds like Llanthony Priory.
But sometimes I needed just this. :o)
Und auch Scones durften natürlich nicht fehlen.
Oh, and of course, Cream Teas were a life elixir.
We watched a young snowy owl by its flight training. Well done, mate.
And we saw, how a Baby Condor girl sweet talked her keeper to share his fruits with her. Clever girl and an absolute cutie.
We joined a duck race (don't worry, all the ducks were taken out of the creek at the end of the game).
And yes, we visited a garden. One, that we have visited three years ago, but it was nice to see it in a different season.
The Cathedral of Hereford was on our tour as well and at the end we even ...
… zu guter Letzt, gab es noch einen Abstecher in die Cotswolds.
… managed to spend a little time in the Cotswolds.
On our last evening, enjoying a Guinness and a Gin Tonic my hubby said dryly: "Didn't you say to me, you want some quite holidays?" Well, yes, I know, I'm impossible, but I needed to do some research (what a good excuse, isn't it?) Anyway, before you feel sorry for my hubby: We both felt very relaxed at the end of our stay. If you can't relax in Michaelchurch Escley, then I guess, you will not find a place to do so. Judy and Colin, thank you so much for everything, you were fab hosts! We felt warmly welcomed and can only recommend your holiday cottage.
P.S.: Noah hat die Ferien ebenfalls super betreut bei uns zuhause überstanden. Ich will nicht wissen, was das Schlitzohr in dieser Zeit alles angestellt hat ;).
P.S.: Noah enjoyed the time at home, well looked after. I don't want to know, what he all was up to, while we were away, but he seems very content with himself. Great to be with him again.
