Vorsicht beim Wünschen / Be careful with your wishes
Yesterday evening I was given another lesson that sometimes it's better to keep the mouth shut. First everything looked quiet normal. It was hot... very hot... much too hot for my gusto. Cat, bunnies and Mrs Gwundergarten were flat like pancakes from the heat and wrangled with the weather god about his choose of temperatures... the plants were nodding their weak heads in agreement with us.
I was just finishing some blog comments, in which I wrote, that I wish for myself some very big clouds loaded with rain, when my hubby said, he would bring the cushions from the deckchair into the house. "No, my dear, that won't be necessary", the clever housewife said. "There won't be any rain just a bit of thunder grumbling."
It seems as if men always have to stick together and therefore the weather god decided to stay on my hubbies side.
It started first with heavy winds and I tell you, it felt as if the wood is coming closer.
Much too close... but I still kept laughing. "There won't be any rain, the weather god does just boast a bit." My hubby just rolled his eyes but kept silent.
Well, maybe there will be one or the other rain drop...
... or maybe just another flood?!
"Aha, jetzt doch." Meinte dieser nur trocken.
"Honey, would you please go up into the workshop to buy a little ark for us?" I said sheepishly.
He was just grinning. "Aha, now after all."
When the weather god mixed the rain with hail, I was rather annoyed. "That's not funny!" I shouted up into the sky. But the god seemed to like it and let it hail for another quarter of an hour (it felt even longer). What do we learn out of this story? First of all (but don't let your hubby read this) don't argue with your hubby because the weather god seems to be a man and is on his side. Second, be careful what you wish, it may come true but a little bit different as you guessed. Third, when you see dark clouds, take the cushions from the deckchair into the house.
Nachdem ich nun gesehen habe, dass die Schäden im Garten klein sind, kann ich die herrliche Abkühlung geniessen. Endlich wieder Temperaturen, wo Frau Gwundergarten aufatmen kann.
After I saw that the damages in the garden were small, I'm now rather happy about this little refreshment. Temperatures are wonderful cool now and I won't have to water the plants today.
Habt einen herrlich erfrischenden Tag / Have a lovely refreshing day
